Just a reminder to Rockford region riders that Critical Mass is this Friday.
After the huge success of last month’s ride, the start time is once again later than the traditional 6 p.m. Riders will gather in the parking lot next to the sand volleyball courts at the downtown Y.M.C.A. at 8:45 p.m. and take to the streets at 9:15 p.m.
You can either just show up or RSVP on the Facebook event page.
We hope to see a huge turnout this month. Last month, the rider count approached 50 and it was fantastic. Don’t let the cool autumn weather scare you off. Bundle up. Grab your bike. Grab a friend. Let’s top 50 this month!
As mentioned in a previous post, remember that Illinois has specific laws regarding bikes on the road at night. Make sure you have lights/reflectors.
“For night riding, a front lamp with a white light visible from at least 500 feet to the front and a red reflector on the rear visible from 100 feet to 600 feet are required. A rear light visible from 500 feet may be used in addition to the red reflector. Equipment required on new bicycles sold includes pedal reflectors, side reflectors and an essentially colorless front facing reflector.”
Be safe out there.
