If you’re looking for an excuse to get out and ride on Wednesday night, look no further. Members of the I Bike Rockford Facebook page have been organizing what they call “Rebel Rides.” It may become a regular Wednesday night tradition.
The group meets at Millennium Fountain on Water Street in downtown Rockford at 9:30 p.m.
From there, the route can be anything. This week, the plan is to ride a 26-mile loop around Rockford.
Join some Fur Bandits along with other local riders for a great evening on the road.
For all those riding, remember that Illinois has specific laws regarding bikes on the road at night. Make sure you have lights/reflectors.
“For night riding, a front lamp with a white light visible from at least 500 feet to the front and a red reflector on the rear visible from 100 feet to 600 feet are required. A rear light visible from 500 feet may be used in addition to the red reflector. Equipment required on new bicycles sold includes pedal reflectors, side reflectors and an essentially colorless front facing reflector.”
Be safe out there.
