Last night, two Team Fur Bandit members and about a dozen other Rockford area riders took to the streets for one of the first Rebel Rides. Like mentioned in a previous post, the group meets at Millennium Fountain on Water Street in downtown Rockford on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. for the rides.
The route took us southeast, paralleling Charles Street. We cut over State Street near Fairview Avenue and took Morsay Drive up to Rockford College. The group unintentionally split at this point. Some took a shortcut through the college and others headed out to State Street. We rendezvoused at the start of the Perryville Path near Best Buy.
Some of the riders had some technical difficulties. One rider had their breaks go out while on the Perryville Path. Thanks to the knowledge and preparedness of some of the riders, they were able to fix his front breaks so he could make it home safely.
When the group made it to Sportscore One, we stopped at a covered pavilion. Everyone then lifted their bikes to hang on the lip of the shelter by the saddle.
From there, it was a quick jaunt down the Rock River Rec Path back to Millennium Fountain.
It seems like this will become a weekly tradition. We hope to see the number of riders grow each week!
