Some of the new sharrows are on Harlem Boulevard in Rockford. They serve as a good reminder for motorists that bikes share the roads too.
While at first glance, the sharrows look like simple paint applied to the road, they are in fact much more. Think of a road decal that is heat treated and melted to the road’s surface. When you ride over them, there is a slight bump from the rest of the pavement.
Unfortunately, the sharrows don’t provide a speed boost as you pass over.
